The health of our patients is our priority. We understand that that you may have many questions about COVID-19/Coronavirus. Patients with compromised immune systems, including many cancer patients, are more susceptible to viruses, including the coronavirus.

It is very important that if you have flu-like symptoms including fever, cough, or shortness of breath that you call WVCI at 541-683-5001 PRIOR to visiting our office for a scheduled appointment.

WVCI is working closely with our local hospitals, public health department, the Oregon Health Authority and the Centers for Disease Control regarding COVID-19.

What to Expect When Visiting WVCI

WVCI is open and operating under normal business hours. We are continuing to care for our patients. Below are frequently asked questions related to our patients.

Will I be screened for symptoms when I come to the clinic?

Yes, you will be screened for flu-like symptoms prior to entry into the clinic in our Eugene location. If you screen positive for symptoms you will be taken to a private room for further evaluation. If you are visiting our Corvallis or Florence locations, please call the main number prior to entering the clinic if you are symptomatic.

Can I bring children and caregivers to my appointment?

One (1) visitor or caregiver is allowed at a new patient appointment. After that, visitors or caregivers are only allowed if the patient requires assistance. We are required to maintain physical distancing of six feet and until that requirement changes, we will be unable to change our visitor guidelines. Vaccination status does not impact the ability to have a caregiver as physical distancing is still required. Children under 12 are not allowed in the infusion room.

Should I wear a mask in the clinic?

A mask is required to be worn at all times within the clinic. During screening, if the staff determines you have symptoms, you will be asked to wear a procedure mask.

Should I be worried about getting infected with COVID-19 while visiting WVCI?

WVCI has extensive and thorough infection control procedures in place, and we are doing everything we can to ensure the safety of our patients, staff and community.

Is WVCI testing patients for COVID-19?

No. WVCI is not testing patients for COVID-19. If we determine that it is appropriate for you to seek further medical care or be tested, we will connect you with the facilities that are currently testing patients.

Ways to Protect Yourself from COVID-19

You and those around you should take proactive measures to protect yourselves from the coronavirus. You should follow these steps:

1. You should avoid contact with anyone, including a caregiver, who has flu-like symptoms. Avoid contact with them until they are well and free from fever and other symptoms for at least 72 hours or until their doctor determines that it is okay for them to be back in the general public.
2. Frequently wash your hands thoroughly for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are unavailable, use alcohol-based hand sanitizers.
3. Cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue and immediately throw the tissue in the trash.
4. Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.
5. Stay home as much as possible and avoid gatherings of people.
6. Disinfect surfaces frequently with household cleanings sprays and wipes.
