Ashten believes in caring for the whole person, not just the diagnosis. Her approach centers on the mind, body, and spirit, recognizing that meaningful healing requires balance across all three. She is committed to person‑centered care and works to ensure patients feel supported, informed, and actively involved in decisions about their health.
During patient visits, Ashten focuses on creating a welcoming space where patients feel heard and respected. She understands that a new diagnosis can feel overwhelming and helps patients regain a sense of control by setting small, realistic goals. She looks beyond traditional treatments to consider lifestyle factors such as nutrition, movement, stress management, environmental exposures, and sleep. She encourages open communication and reassures patients by reminding them, “There are no bad questions, please ask them. I am here to listen.”
Oncology is a field that continually evolves, and Ashten is inspired by the innovation and research that drive advances in cancer care. She stays current by reviewing medical journals and attending conferences so she can offer patients the most up‑to‑date treatment options. She values the role research plays in improving care today while also creating opportunities that may benefit future generations.
Ashten is originally from Texas and began her career at WVCI as an infusion nurse, where she was inspired to advance her skills and transition into a provider role. Outside of clinic, Ashten enjoys spending time outdoors with her family and dogs.
