More likely than not, they’ll be grateful to be given a practical way to help. And it will be one less thing for you to worry about.
Buy a calendar or use a binder to record all of your appointments.
Keep paperwork in one place, including Explanation of Benefits statements and records of charges for appointments, treatments, medications and medical supplies.
Check periodically to see that appropriate insurance payments are being made to medical providers.
If problems arise with payments, call your insurance provider to find out what additional information is required; offer to gather the information. Always write down the name of the person you talked with, the date and any important details about the call. Then contact us for help in gathering the necessary information.
Keep all insurance premiums current; coverage is harder to obtain after a major illness.
Before you change jobs, review your new employer’s plan to see what will and will not be covered and whether there will be a lapse in coverage.
Notify the WVCI business office right away if your insurance changes in any way.
